So I am moving to Hartford and trying to figure out a good location to live. I am going to rent for at least a year to get used to the different areas. I would love to hear suggestions on locations and apartments. It will be my wife and I moving there and as far as rent goes, I am thinking $2,400/month would be my cap, not including utilities. Thanks everyone.

I haven't checked West Hartford yet. At this point I am open to anything within Hartford as well as the surrounding areas/towns. I haven't been to CT is a long time so I am trying to get recommendations to narrow my search.

Well, I'm recommending West Hartford based on its proximity to Hartford proper. I'm also recommending it because it's a GREAT town, with a GREAT downtown.

Thanks for the advice on West Hartford. I will start researching the area. Definitely want a safe area and while close proximity to Hartford is important, I don't mind having to drive to work.

if driving isn't an issue, You can also Vernon. I know there are very good apartments in vernon which are within your budget with garage parking(like a townhome)....if i remember correctly, i think its hockanum crossing or something.
