This is another one of those issues that, in a few years, we'll wonder why people got so upset about it. We'll look back at comments proclaiming the downfall of society because of a law allowing people to choose their bathroom and laugh. We'll wonder why this pissed people off so much and figure they must've been harboring some sort of deeper resentment of something in order to get so worked up about it. We'll be glad that society will have moved forward a little bit. Just like after the civil rights movement (though on an obviously much smaller scale), and soon to be the gay rights movement, people who opposed it at the time will support it, and probably will become convinced that they always really had.

Why do we confuse the Civil Society with Govt? Why are we so demeaning and untrusting of the civil society? Why do we rush to Govt / Authority to dictate good behavior or else? Can't we trust the Civil Society to correct uncivil behavior?

I find this mindset very feudal and regressive. Enlightened Europeans rose up against this very thing. An entire era was a repudiation of the mindset we seem to embrace. This is progress my ass!!
