We are looking for some firewood for next weekend. Does anyone have suggestions of somewhere or someone that would have some? We are in Norwich, so somewhere close by would be great. We only have a small-ish car, so we would need some that is already cut into small-ish chunks. We occasionally see small "bundles" on the side of the road or in the store but they are almost always overpriced. Thanks in advance

They're usually overpriced, because someone had to cut all that wood and bundle it into nice neat packages that fit in smaller cars

If you want cheap seasoned firewood, you can get plenty - but you will need to buy it in bulk, or chop it down yourself.

LoL, I understand the need to up prices to make it neat or to cut it, but I could care less if it was neat...we will pile it into the car, we just obviously cant have big pieces because they would not fit into our car. If we wanted/needed wood for more than just a time or 2 (for a small firepit outdoors) we would gladly purchase the necessary things to cut it ourselves, but really no sense in it knowing we will not get our monies worth back, ya know?

I researched into this and realized its not worth it unless you are getting the wood for dirt cheap and you are chopping yourself and drying them in the summer meticulously. Just stick with oil and use the time saved from chopping the wood to do a side job. I will only buy firewood if I am getting a girl home for the night.

Go to Shur-fire wood pellets and more (west thames st, Norwich), they sell wood pellets and bio bricks. Buy a couple of bags of bio bricks and burn those, they are great in the wood stove or the outdoor firepit. I burn them in my stove every winter and we love em.

Thanks for the responses! We just have a 35" round firepit that we want to roast marshmallows and maybe hot dogs a few times before the summer is gone, so we definitely need wood (oil wont work LoL). Wonder if those bio bricks would be okay for that?

Yup! Just get a fire started with some smaller branches, twigs, etc. Then when you have a good coal bed, place the bricks right on top and they'll burn nice and clean, with very little smoke.
