What's with all the people on here asking about these crazy ass long commutes? I remember one guy asking about commuting from around guilford to nyc!! Another one wanted to go from Springfield to Southington and windsor locks to new haven

LIVE CLOSE TO WHERE YOU WORK!

Maybe then we'd have less traffic on the roads. Why would anyone want to waste that much gas, put a ton of wear and tear on the vehicles, and spend all that time and have a ton of stress sitting in traffic everyday is beyond me.

If your new great job oportunity doesn't pay you enough to live in the area than it's not a great job opportunity! Get something closer to home. One guy worked in Springfield, but wanted to a buy a house in Southington just because he liked the house.
And a house in westport is cheaper than teaneck? I don't think so. Move to Teaneck or get a job near wesport.

First of all, parts of Teaneck are on par with the avg home in Westport. Especially when you factor in the significantly higher prop taxes in NJ.

Second, who said he's working hourly?

Third, how do YOU know he'll burn through his savings? Maybe he's got millions in the bank, and is taking some 500k job at a Hedge Fund in Westport. Maybe he just loves where he lives. You CT natives never seem to leave here, so you should understand.

I don't agree with THAT far of a commute either, especially considering you have to drive right through NYC on the way where there are probably plenty of equivalent jobs. But it's far from awful. I know people that commute a lot further, and don't make a NYC or FFC salary for their trouble.

Who said about burning though his savings? He's away from home sitting in traffic. It's work he could be doing at the office instead of sitting in traffic or free time he could be enjoying! HJourly wage is Irrelevant. I know there is no difference in home price so what's the point of staying in Westport. Why not just move to Teaneck if you want that job so badly rather than putting up with a hellish commute everyday?

Even with no traffic and ideal weather conditions, this commute looks AWFUL! 1 hr and 4 mins according to Google.

The OP is living in Teaneck and Commuting to Westport. I agree it's not ideal, but there are much worse situations to be in.
