Does anyone know the easiest way there from Woodbridge? Keep in mind I hate driving through downtown and Mapquest is sending me that way. If anyone knows an easy way, I'd be grateful. Also, is it a safe area?

It's not a big deal. It's just a few miles however you go.
I would take Whalley Ave all the way (Whalley turns into Broadway turns into Elm) to Church/Whitney Ave, take that north, then turn right onto Willow.

If you REALLY want to avoid downtown (I don't see the problem, it's an easy city to drive through compared to bigger ones), it's right off 91 - so take 15 up to 40 connector, then 91 south to exit 6. That's the
long way.

Willow Street is in East Rock which is a very nice area and is safe.
