He seems to upset every base of voters, including democrats. What is his demographic of voters? Who does he cater to? I know it is early, but do you think he will get a second term?

I cant really complain about what the guy is doing too much. No one seems to offer better solutions. He seems to be making some hard choices. Time will tell

While JViello's map shows who voted for him, I think most Democrats are disappointed with what he has done so far. My liberal friends are pretty TOed at the extent of the new taxes. Any polls out there yet determining his approval rating? I would guess his only base left is the liberal elite of Stamford and uninformed Democrats.

I consider myself an independent but I support Malloy. No one likes taxes, but the reality was that we couldn't go on spending without taking in revenues. I'm glad that he's addressing the spending problem by getting union concessions. And I think that between him and Susan Herbst, they will continue to improve UConn.

I still don't think he was tough enough on the unions. I go to school at UCHC and the amount of waste is amazing. Quick anecdote, they put up 3-4 extremely nice flat panel TV's (we're talking the high end ones that are only 1-2 inches thick) last year. One year later, the TV's remain turned off. I wouldn't be surprised if the total cost including union labor to install was over $10,000. That's to say nothing about the overstaffing.. there are staff members around who do almost nothing of value to the school or hospital, yet pull down healthy salaries and pensions/retirement benefits. There are also lots of elderly tenured faculty members making six-figure salaries who literally do nothing of value anymore, but refuse to retire. Meanwhile, we got hit with a 4% tuition increase.

With that said, I'm strongly in support of Malloy's plan to improve UCHC. Even in its current form, it provides a staggering number of non-outsourceable, recession-proof jobs and economic growth to the Farmington area. Head down to West Hartford Center around 5pm and you see many, many UCHC employees with their ID badges and scrubs walking around, shopping, eating in restaurants, etc. In recent years UCHC has made small profits or evened out, so the jobs are paying for themselves. That's pretty good in my opinion.

Too early to tell if he'll be re-elected. I'm sure if it happened now, he would have a big challenge - but things can change so much in a year in politics.

I don't think it's too early to tell at all. He's finished. His approval rating is actually worse than Obama's.
