Hi,

I am moving to West Hartford from NC in September and I am researching internet providers. It appears that there is a choice between two cable-based providers in West Hartford...Cox and Comcast.

I will be working from my home, so I am needing a reliably fast connection throughout the day. Does anyone have good/bad experiences with either of these providers? Speed? Service?

I do not plan to use them for TV or phone, just internet.

Thanks so much!

Both are fast and both are expensive, atleast in my opinion. You can pretty much set whatever prices you want, when you have a monopoly on the competition.
I have cox and it works great.

I lived in West Hartford (up until a week ago) and worked from home the whole time I was there (4 years). If the Internet went down, I was in big trouble. We had Comcast and had no problems whatsoever.

My parents have Comcast 12mbps and like it. They haven't had any complaints about the customer service. It's pretty expensive though--they bought their own modem off eBay to avoid their rental fee but it still costs $60 a month. I personally use AT&T DSL 6mbps for $20 a month.

Thanks for info. I do need good speed for work and will be doing web conferencing, demos, etc. I am most concerned with having a digital phone and running a demo at the same time. I have had horrible experiences with that in NC with choppy phone reception. Sounds like both services have been pretty reliable and price is probably the only factor. Perhaps I can work that into a good deal or intro offer. Thanks again!
