I'm sure my fellow British ex-pats will appreciate my problem:

I'm trying to find a source for lamb's kidneys for a steak and kidney pudding. Preferably within striking distance of Danbury, but I'd be willing to travel further in CT, or across the border into NY state.

I've been let down by a butcher who said he'd keep some and now am on a deadline. It's for a birthday dinner at the weekend.

So - anyone have any info on where I might try? I have contacted the butcher shops I've found via google with no success. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

S

Meat House in Newtown? M&M Farm in Milford?

Butchers are hard to come by these days in CT.

You guys do realize NYC is an hour away right? Bring a cooler with some ice packs, and get your organs there.

The big city? Ooh, I'm not sure us country folk would know what to do up there. Is there somewhere I can graze my cows?

Seriously though, that's a good point. If it comes to it there's bound to be a supply in NYC somewhere. At this point though I think we may make do with a nice steak pie.

BTW - The Meat House in Newtown 'should' have got them in but that didn't work out.

Thanks for all the help.

I'd bet you can find a source in any of the 5 boroughs.

You could also try this place: Ferraro's Foods - New Haven, CT

I'd bet they'd have it. Call ahead.

Ferraros is great, if you don't mind risking your life for cold cuts. And yes, that area IS that bad.
