I'd like to know more about things such as the weather, the people, crime, things to do/see, is this more of a rural/suburban/urban area of CT, etc. from people living in the area. I can do all kinds of research, but I think it's important to get a native CT's view as well. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
You don't say where your mother lives, which would be helpful. We could try to keep you near I-84, I-95, or Merritt parkway if we knew which direction you were driving to. Also let us know your budget, and whether you prefer an urban or suburban location. Fairfield County is pretty well-developed, but there are some towns that are more rural than others. As for weather, it's the mildest state of New England, and doesn't usually get the snowfall you see further north, particularly if you live along Ct.'s coastline. But if you come from a state with mild winters, Ct. could still take some getting to used to. In another month or so our foliage will be changing colors, and it is really pretty here then, especially in northern Ct.

I remember there were listings in Stamford for 900-1100 bucks a month.
Well, yeah. Almost anything is cheaper than Darien or Greenwich.

There are many "best" areas of CT depending on your needs that are much cheaper than the lower FFC shaft.

Also, Stamford at $1000 means a tiny, older studio. If you're fine with that, it's a nice place to live. But it ain't budget.
