It's not the casinos. It's the fact that many in the western suburbs trying to get to the eastern suburbs will have to navigate city streets (though I understand better now what they're doing).
But they don't have to do that at all. They can easily take the Merritt to 91 to 95. What about that do you not comprehend?

Why the heck would they take the Merritt all the way up to Wallingford, only to go down to New Haven?

Again, that makes no sense whatsoever.

It takes MARGINALLY more time to do that then to sit on 34. Ever hear of google maps? Hell, it takes marginally more time to drive SOUTH on the Merritt, and cut over in Milford to 95 and then drive east. Try thinking outside the box a little bit.

Aren't you one of those folks that chimes in every time someone posts a "commute from nyc to CT" thread, telling them they should just move closer? Well, if the casino is that important to them, maybe they should move closer to 95.

And btw, i don't think this is a good idea either. The criminal element in New Haven will turn this into the OK Corral in no time. It's another massive waste of resources.

I just don't see the big issue from a transportation standpoint, and what's done is done.

Holy cow, you have comprehension issues. Did you read that it's not about the casino, it's about travelling from western 'burbs to eastern 'burbs? The casino was used as a friggen example - why can't you understand this, as it was said three times?!

Drive south on the Merritt, cutting over on the Milford Pkway, then hitting 95 N? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense if you're coming from Amity, considering you'd likely hit a ton of traffic going over the Q.

And nobody "sits" on 34. It's not like it's bumper to bumper. The issue is (actually was, because it's been clarified, so I'm unsure as to why you keep beating a dead horse) driving down MLK Blvd with the addition of lights. Again, not an issue. Your forum b*tching can be ceased.

They are on par with northern FFC prices. And less isolated too.

No , but i watched my state take them out which was stupid in my opinion. Yes your HOV lanes were designed badly , but I don't think putting Rail in will solve anything. Believe me the Rail fanners and Urban planners would have been rallying for that if it where a good idea , but its not. Rail is not the answer to every cities problem , sometimes enhancing the bus system and Downtown street flow does the trick.

Wow, after all these years they are finally tackling the Route 34 situation. I remember in mid last century when they were condemning and knocking down this R/O/W to connect with 34 and The Blvd (I guess it is the Ella Grasso Blvd now). It was suppose to get you right thru New Haven. We all looked forward to its completion! What a marvel and look to the future when they proposed and completed the York Street garage. Having a road right under it. The lack of completion is a monument to the urban renewal of the 50's and 60's. I say keep it as it is and make it a historical site of man's inabilities.
