Salt Lake City got the Winter Olympics because it is home to some of the best skiing in North America. The state and federal government made a huge committiment to upgrade their transportation infrastructure including all new widened highways and mass transit. Jay

That's right, SLC was winter olympics. Not sure why I was thinking summer. Yeah, I can speak from firsthand experience that area has some of the best skiing in the world.

CT has nothing to offer for winter olympics, and they look for world-class cities for the summer olympics. The closest for winter would be a city like Burlington or Portland (sorta near Sugarloaf), and it was twice held in Lake Placid, NY.

^ I'm sure Connecticut can do summer olympics

Anyways I forgot to mentioned that I was told down there that they're thinking of shutting down the light-rails because they are not getting enough people going on the trains because people going on it for free and cant afford it anymore. No wonder I thought there a lot that is nothing smart about the state, no offense to them.

In my jealous mind, shut it down give Connecticut the light-rail let the Feds know Utahan people steals why should I go and pay for it as a visitor

How? Look at the past cities. They're looking for MAJOR, internationally renowned cities. No city in CT fits that bill. The closest are New York, Philly and MAYBE (it's a stretch) Boston.

If you say so. At the end of the day it's just reality.

Because our biggest city is Bridgeport and has no cultural significance to the world outside of CT. Stamford is a commuter city and New Haven and Hartford are still pretty small and not world famous cities. New Haven is our 2nd most populated city and has a population of 130,000. New York City has a population of 8 million. They're not comparable. New Haven is like one neighborhood of NYC.

It's not an injustice, it's just how it is.

^ No offense to any NYers, as much as this will take the anger out of me, but New York City is a greedy-ego-big-fat-boy eating out of our apples! They chewing the money away leaving everyone else in hunger.

I think any smaller areas should have a chance and all benefits goes to them. Places like NYC and Boston just have their chances... those greedy urbanites just gets me so angry.
