I recently moved to Ellington from Illinois and was wondering what's the best way to catch Bears, Cubs and Bulls games on TV. Does anyone have any cable or satellite plan recommendations?

You should be able to work out something with any cable provider.

To see the Bears, you need Sunday Ticket...which is only available through DirecTV, although I heard you can now subscribe through your PS3 if you have one.

Cubs, Bulls, and NHL (fwiw) are available on the inDemand platform. Of the cable providers I think you get in Ellington, Comcast carries inDemand but U-Verse DOES NOT. They claim they are in negotiations, but it isn't here yet and IMO might never be.

As an out of town sports fan in SW, I subscribe to the MLB package (on my TV, although I might switch to MLB.tv online next year - a tad cheaper and actually better quality)...but for the NFL, I just can't stomach the huge Sunday Ticket cost given that half the games will be on local TV anyway. Find a local sports bar for that, IMO - for the same price, you can get a meal and a few beers every time.

WGN (the Chicago superstation) is carried by UVerse and they show the Cubs and White Sox all the time (at least the Cubs anyway).

We moved here 2yrs ago from Chicago. The first year we went back and forth streaming the game online at sites like JustinTV.com and hooking it up to the TV. Quality not all that great and sometimes can't find a good feed. We also found a bar/restaurant with a lot of TVs and asked if they would turn one of them to the bears game and they would, but its hard to keep a 4yr old occupied in a place like that for so long. We ultimately went with NFL Sunday Ticket, we already had directv anyway. If you don't have kids I think you can find your way around getting the game without spending the $$ for the Sunday ticket, but it is convenient and reliable. GO BEARS!
