From Wikipedia:

Quote:
New Haven is the second-largest city in Connecticut and the sixth-largest in New England. According to the 2010 Census, New Haven's population increased by 5.0% between 2000 and 2010, a rate higher than that of the State of Connecticut, and higher than that of the state's five largest cities, and most cities in the northeastern part of the U.S.
New Haven now has a population of ~130,000, while Bridgeport's stands at ~144,000. Will New Haven become CT's most populated city in the next few decades?

Discuss.

Yes , with the High Speed Rail link and Streetcar , along with Road improvements should attract enough people to New Haven then Bridgeport.

I have no doubt New Haven would become largest city in Connecticut in the nexts 10-15 year.

Remember, for the first time in 60 years, Bridgeport gained population in the 2010 Census too.

It's possible, but I'd be more convinced if Bpt were still shrinking.

It is hard to say. Both Bridgeport and New Haven grew in population. So did Hartford and Stamford. I think that Stamford has the best opportunity to grow but it has a ways to go to catch up to Bridgeport. A lot is going to depend on job growth and people's perception of the city. New Haven has job growth and has been improving its image. It still is viewed as a high crime city so it is hard to say what will happen. Jay

I agree. I think New Haven has the most untapped potential of any CT city at the moment. I think Stamford has already found its niche and is in a nice place.

I'd like to see that happen. But New Haven would really have to be on a roll in order to gain 15,000 more residents and pass Bridgeport, whose population would either have to remain flat or shrink again. But I hope this is just the start of some solid population growth for my favorite CT city.
