I have just uner 3/4 tank and I am woried about running out. I am staying with family that has power. I know I need to go check my place and toss any food, but I hate "wasting" the gas driving there and then back here.

I filled up in North Haven this afternoon, no problemo. I usually keep four 5 gallon cans full on hand at all times. I use them throughout the month to top off the car here and there. We fill em up on the cheap with our stop & shop points, so it's kind of like dollar cost averaging with gasoline..! This way, when the big ba$tard storm hits, I have twenty gallons ready to roll into the generator. Give it a try

was it at the NH S&S that you filled up? last i knew they didn't have a sister gas station like Cromwell and Berlin do.

I saw gas stations open on RT 372 in Cromwell and RT 3 in Rocky Hill.

The secret to getting gas in this situation is going to the "ghetto"

I found gas stations without a wait on Corbin Ave & Farmington Ave in New Britain. (the one on Corbin is across from the Pinnacle Heights housing project)

For anyone afraid of the "ghetto" I suggest going during the day.

No, I went to first fuel in North Haven on Middletown Ave. Was in a pinch yesterday.

I have been absolutely shocked at the amount of disputes/fights breaking out at gas stations in central CT. People cutting lines, standing in front of gas pumps preventing others from pulling their car in while their accomplice drives over a curb to slide in, cars being rammed. Yes, this all happened yesterday. Police have been called to over 100 disputes at gas stations yesterday alone.

Who said people in CT are no different than people in calmer states down south? This would never happen in North Carolina or Virginia. Ever.

i saw a couple on 372 on my way home and both were mobbed. frankly i'm amazed i made it through the chaos without some accident. this after checking the Berlin S&S (no electricity) and the Valero and Citgo stations on the Berlin Tpke. the Valero looked like it could have been open but there were cops there with lights flashing and pylons out front so not sure what was going on. the Citgo had no power and was closed.
i'm gonna check the local places this morning (including Rocky Hill) after rush hour and just hope i can get at least $10.

Thats funny. Some girl at my work told me to go to the "hood" and I wouldnt have to wait long. This was in Hartford.

I don't know if you still need gas, but East Hartford has power near Founders Plaza (Pitkin St/East River Dr area). There is a Sunoco that is open on the corner of Pitkin and Darlin St and lines weren't bad this morning, just a few cars deep. I also heard that Silver Lane has some gas stations open.

UPDATE: The Sunoco ran out of gas this morning but it is scheduled to get a tanker in shortly, so they should be good to go later today.
