That's an interesting method of evaluating a school's performance.

Smile Help me!!!

I live in NYC and My husband recently got a job in Stamford. We want to buy a house $250 - $300 but we don't really know CT. We need good school district, close to malls, groceries and nice neighborhood.
We are looking in Stamford but is very pricy.
Please let me know a little bit about the near by cities.
Thanks!

Unfortunately Stamford is in the middle of some of the most expensive real estate in the country. Finding a home in a good town in your price range may be difficult anywhere near Stamford. I would suggest looking further up the coast at towns like Fairfield, Stratford and Milford. These towns have good schools (Fairfield's are considered excellent), lots of shopping and plenty of family related activites. Your husband could take the train to work to avoid the traffic on I-95 and the Merritt Parkway. Good luck, Jay

And NYC isn't expensive? How are you affording to live there?

I dunno...moving somewhere you can't afford to live or buy a home seems to spell disaster for me...why would anyone do this?

If you need to move to Stamford and your buying budget is $250-300k, you'd be better off renting. You'd need to look at least 30-40 minutes outside of Stamford to find a house in a decent town in that price range. If you're not familiar with the area, it would be better to rent anyway so you can get an idea of which towns you like, how long your commute will be, etc.
