Hello,

Just curious of any places that are in CT, that are somewhat safe, and our decently cheap ($750-900) for a 2bd apartment, as an example.

Waterbury, Derby, Ansonia, Norwich, Manchester, Vernon, Naugatuck, Torrington, New Britain, New London, Middletown.

I'm probably missing a couple, but those are generally your cheapest cities where that might be possible. All are at least "somewhat" safe, but some are not the greatest areas to live for reasons other than crime. There are some more isolated rural towns where it may be possible too.

That's a pretty rough price point for anywhere in CT though.

Most of New Britain is not safe, except right on the border of other towns. Downtown new london is a horrendous area. Most of Waterbury, especially right behind the mall is also a ghetto and not safe. Downtown middletown is not that great either, especially the northern part of downtown. Downtown Middletown is better than new britain, new london, waterbury. Outside of downtown is completely fine in middletown.

Waterbury's crime rate was actually average for the last year that the data is available(2010): //www.city-data.com/city/Waterb...nnecticut.html.

Take a walk north of the mall sometime and let me know what you think. It's straight up ghetto.

Try looking at Terryville. They have a lot of relatively cheaper 2 bedroom apartments in a safe area.

It's still not relevant to what you've posted. You came out with: "Waterbury is a dumpy dangerous ghetto, stay away." I, on the other hand, posted a more relevant statistical link that disputes your argument.

Believe it or not, I'm going to say Meriden, Bristol, Norwich, Ansonia, Derby and Torrington. Torrington and Norwich are similar. We call them the "forgotten cities," since they are out in the middle of nowhere. I prefer Norwich though.

I feel like Torrington is a good choice.. isn't it remarkably cheap and also pretty safe? It's also surrounded by some beautiful areas.

Eh, none of those places are THAT dangerous. They're just run-down. If anyone's lived in a city before, they can handle themselves.

IMO the only truly dangerous parts of CT are limited to small number of neighborhoods in our 3 biggest cities.
