If she can afford it Greenwich is a wonderful place. Doesn't have to be Greenwich proper or Old Greenwich, Riverside or Cos Cob, etc. Byrum is a nice place as is Chicahominy in Greenwich. The school system in Greenwich is outstanding. Crime rate is very low and the beaches are 2nd to none in that part of CT. Tod's Point is absolutely gorgeous. Grew up in Old Greenwich and now I'm missing it. Greenwich is also the closest of the mentioned cities/towns to NYC.

Dump.

Looks like Port Chester.

Your head needs to be examined if you plunk down ~$450K for a house in Byram.

JMHO.

Byram is a nice enough part of Greenwich. It is certainly modest by Greenwich standards but I would not call it a dump. Whether or not it is worth paying $450,000 for a very modest home, only the OP can decide. There certainly seem to be enough other people willing to pay that price for a home in that area. Jay

From what I've seen, Byram folks are people who can barely afford half a million, but want the Greenwich address for schools, prestige, etc.

It's not a dump.

Parts of Byrum are not super attractive and look worn, but it's not blighted or anything. You're basically getting a $200,000 house in most parts of CT for $500,000 because it's Greenwich. The section right next door to Port Chester is probably the least attractive area. But compared to many Stamford and Norwalk neighborhoods, it's a lot better looking IMO.

Take a closer look at those side streets. You'll find garbage strewn around their yards just like in the "ghetto" n'hoods of Stamford/Norwalk.

Dump..........
