I'm hoping someone can help me. My elderly aunt lives in Farmington in a house where none of the windows can accomodate a regular A/C. I was thinking of maybe renting a portable one for her for the rest of the summer as her house is quite hot. She has lots of fans but it isn't really helping.
I googled but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone know if this is even possible to do or any places in that area that might rent? All I'm finding is industrial ones.

When we lived in CT, our main air conditioner (it went in the wall) broke. Of course it was on a stinkin' hot day. We got a portable one for until it could be replaced because our windows in that room, too, could not accommodate a unit. The electric bill that month was INSANE. Granted, there were cathedral ceilings in that room and the house was an open floorplan, so it had a lot of space to cool, but still... Those things suck electric current like there's no tomorrow. Just a warning.
When you say her windows can't accommodate a "regular" A/C unit, do you mean that they're crank windows that open out, so they can't accommodate any A/C unit? Because if it's not that, but rather if it's a sizing issue, I urge you to do some research to see if you can find one that can fit her window because, again, those portable ones are brutal on the electric bill.
DandJ-thanks for the warning--I was afraid of that. Yes, they are crank windows that open out. Oh well--we'll try something else. Thanks for your help!
JayCT-thanks for the sugestion-I didn't know they made anything like that; I'll check it out.
