I think Discovery did something as well. I caught a little of TWC's documentary but something didnt float my boat with it. It feels like they left out areas that got hit. If someone is doing a documentary of a powerful storm, why not show the complete affects it had on land rather than a small part of it??

I guess thats what happens when you rush to put something together to be the first to air it.

Does anyone else find it ironic that Sand is in the name of this storm that pushed Sand well inland and eroded the beaches/coast? What are the odds this area gets hit with a hurricane that size that makes a left turn like that almost in November and right on the letter S?? Strange.

Did you guys know that Sandy was 300 miles off the coast of North Carolina heading OTS? It was litterally moving OTS at that point. Then it got sucked in and made the sharp left turn into NJ. Sick.

Which makes it even more ideal because one NJ town very badly hit is called Sandy Hook.

Sandy Hook is not a Town,it is a recreation area for beach goers surfers and fisherman,Ft Hancock is also there. the town surrounding Sandy Hook are The Highlands,& Sea Bright.

Let me know what you think of the NOVA one. Video: Inside the Megastorm | Watch NOVA Online | PBS Video I thought they did the best out of the three.

I actually got bored watching the Discovery documentary and ended up watching the Good Wife instead. It was the better choice.

Just looking back its just incredible we were seeing this happen a week before. Absolutely insane. Part of me still can't believe it.

At this point I'm hoping for luck but IF these models are right, it would be another historic storm.

The key is the trough out west. If its 6 hours off, there wont be a phase... Hurricane Sandy will move up the coast and If we get a phase... then it will draw Sandy right into us.

The GFS did not have the October Snowstorm in the 5-7 day range last year, this is whats concerning me.

NO SNOW this time for us..It would be an Irene type event and hopefully that weak because what models are showing as of now is just insane to think about. Irene was a 973mb Low. They are showing a stronger low.
Here's a docmentary video from PBS about this event.. Shows the Euro doing the unthinkable...making a left turn into the northeast.

Are dunes natural? Or were they built by man?

Good question.. I have to assume some are natural but most built by hands. Probably when that road was built. So there's no question in my mind we will make plans to rebuild them stronger and maybe higher now. Or we should just start building inland more instead of right on the coastline.

There's still news stories that I come across now that I didnt think about before and makes me shake my head. Like all the flooded cars on the lots. Or the sand that has been placed inland in neighborhoods. The entire scope of the event is just crazy
