Woodland Hills. It wasn't bad at all in the summer. San Bernadino can get very hot though.

I was referring to the bay area in that case but..

Yes, I lived in Camarillo about an hour up the coast from LA. There I definitely did not need AC or Heat ever (in fact, i never once turned either of them on in 2 years) - but that part of Ventura County is a very particular climate with highs in the 70s every month of the year, with over 300 days of sun. Go down 101 10 minutes to Thousand Oaks and its over 100 in the summer.. mmm microclimates.

I was only about 20 minutes west of Thousand Oaks and it was a steady 85 in the summer, and 50 at night. It got a little warm on the second floor during the day but not humid so it was tolerable. By 6pm it would cool right off and I actually needed a blanket to sleep.

Check out the average highs in Agoura Hills, about 4-5 miles down 101 from Thousand Oaks.. Scary..

Average Weather for Agoura Hills, CA - Temperature and Precipitation

And yes, on top of intense heat, it's damn cold at night.. deserts aren't my thing.

Yeah Woodland was similar, maybe a bit less intense. It gets so cool at night that your home stays pretty cool throughout the day until about 3-5pm, but at that point it begins to drop again. I'll take that any day over expensive oil and high electric rates.

One thing that's really hard to knock is the weather on the west coast.

We live in LA and have used the AC nearly all summer and into the fall (it was still mid 90s in October this year). Typically, we try not to use it too much, but this year has been particularly hot. We have an approximately 800 sq ft apartment and pay an average of $100-150 in power and electricity every month. I don't know how that would compare to a place in CT, although I'd be interested to hear.

Well if you're using AC all summer, it would be a little more pricey in CT. Electric rates in CA are a little cheaper.
