I just went to the deli in Vernon called rein's ny style deli. Probably the best all around deli I have been to in the general hartford area. Are there any others that are any good? It seems like the pickings are kind of slim which is unfortunate.

Gaetano's in Stratford/Monroe is an amazing Arthur Ave style deli, but unfortunately not in that area.

I hate to say it but to us Rein's isn't even that good. DW and I both grew up on good NY Jewish delis and there is nothin really in the Hartford area to compare. When we wanted our deli fix we would head to Fairfield. West Hartford had Rubens for a short while but they closed. They were okay at first and did a wonderful business but then their quality dropped and they could not make it. I have heard of a Koshier deli in Bloomfield that I want to try but am not sure if it is going to be good or not. Jay

Whatever. Rein's is still considered by most to be the best -jewish- deli outside of New York. 'Nuff said.

Other delis in CT worth checking out:

1. Cornerstone Deli in Hartford. One of my favorites. Wonderous portions. NY Style.

2. My favorite, especially for breakfast is Capitol View on Asylum Ave in Hartford. Good food. Addicting breakfast sandwiches. Everything is made fresh. Wouldn't call them NY Style, per se, unfortunately.

As far as Jewish delis go, Oscar's in Westport is pretty darn good.
