Hi. We may be moving from long island to CT. Looking for some feedback on both Ridgefield and Newtown or any other towns in the area. We have a 2.5 year old so schools and activites are important. We loved Ridgefield but it may be to expensive. Any responses much appreciated

Thank you
Alissa

Hi - Thank you for your response - between 500 - 700,000. Was wondering if there were kid friendly developments in these areas also?

Depends on how much home you want. That will get you a decent house in Ridgefield, or a very nice house in Newtown. You can't go wrong with either town. Bethel should be considered too, as it's very family friendly with a great downtown, which Newtown does lack. It is quite a bit less expensive than Ridgefield, but still gives good access to the Westport/Norwalk area and Danbury area. You still haven't mentioned commute needs, which is usually why people pay more for Ridgefield.

I agree with this.

Don't rule out Bethel, Brookfield and New Fairfield. Southbury and Oxford are nice too (both VERY family friendly and your budget will go far) but are a bit removed from greater Danbury.

EDIT to add: Since you're working in Danbury, I'd suggest you continue to look into Newtown, but add Bethel, Brookfield, New Fairfield, Redding (very rural) and Southbury to your list. All are great towns with very good schools.

Ridgefield is very nice but you will not get as much for your money.

Can't go wrong in all of the towns. There are also very nice neighborhoods in Danbury too. You would probably get the newer homes in Newtown. Lots of subdivisions in there.

All towns recommended have very good school districts. Redding probably has the highest ranked schools.
