I just got back and it is a lovely store. Of course, I still did my bulk shopping at Trader Joe's. Surprisingly the produce was not much different in price than Stop & Shop.

While it was cool to see so many people interested in healthy shopping, I couldn't help noticing that the longest line in the deli area was the "Burger and Shake" line. I thought it was funny.

Haven't been, and I don't plan to. Whole Foods, while their produce is good, is WAY too expensive for me.

Yup. I asked the cashier at TJs how it was going and he said WF wasn't a threat. Everyone was like me and doing their big shopping at Trader Joe's and going to WF for just a few things. I avoided Tumeric Coconut juice, btw.

I did not go there. I heard from a few it was a zoo over the weekend. My parents told me they went there and very particular on what they bought, as most food was priced higher than the other stores in the area.

I'm actually surprised that, given the affluence of greater Danbury, there hasn't been a WF until now.

I like WF for a few things. I actually don't mind spending a little more on the produce, as I find it lasts a bit longer.

The Danbury one is great inside - just like any good new WF.

However, the plaza/exterior is hideous. Whose idea was it to make it look like a prison/high school? So ugly, could've been so much nicer. Look at the Whole Foods in Darien, Milford or West Hartford - examples of much nicer exterior design.

Pretty sure it was the plaza owner, not Whole Foods that dictated that look though.

Heard the same about the weekend and even yesterday around lunch it was pretty crowded. A few people were fighting for my parking spot as I left.

I have only been to the one in Greenwich, so Danbury was quite stellar compared to it. LOL

I mean the inside is nice, it's just the whole plaza is really austere and ugly for what should be upscale new construction.

I was fond of Marcus Dairy, so maybe I'm a little bitter.

I really like the look. As an added bonus, it is in a terrific location that is not plagued by traffic. Easy access to Route 7, 84, 684. The Milford location is in traffic central and the Milford Marketplace aesthetics are just wrong. Cheap faux touches (shutters, stone trim) and a characterless attempt at a downtown center, along Route 1.

I actually find the Milford Marketplace to be pretty appealing. It's a nice change from the rusty old shopping centers that are so common along Route 1.
