Apparently the National Shooting Sports Foundation is pulling its support of establishment of the Coltsville National Park in Hartford. Now is it me or is this the most childest and spiteful move for a so called national organization that is suppose to support shooting safety and the gun industry. It sounds more like they are just a front for the gun industry. A link to the article is below. Jay

Wow.. based in Newtown too. I think they're badly misjudging their attempts at PR.

I'll give you an analogy -- let's say you have a tenant -- would you still support him to install a BBQ, while you sue to evict him?

The relationship is over as far as NSSF is concerned.

This decision is petty and ignorant, resting upon a false assumption that Coltsvile as a NHP only benefits the State of Connecticut.

I say good riddance. The less corporate lobbying anywhere, for anything, the better.

I don't get your analogy. What does one thing have to do with the other? As Virginia Prime notes the park would benefit more than just the State of Connecticut. It perserves an important part of our history. It would even help promote gun use. To me it is just being spiteful and childish. Jay

I was very pleased when I read this story the other day. The NSSF represents the gun manufacturers. This state demonizes guns so why would any gun manufacturer or lobbying organization want to support anything gun related in this state. I guess it wasn't spiteful or childish when the drug dealer's father had this to say about gun manufacturers "What this is about is the ability of the gun industry to sell as many guns to as many people as possible even if they're deranged, even if they're mentally ill, even if they have a criminal background, they don't care," Malloy said in a CNN interview. "They want to sell guns."

How could it possibly promote gun use when the very state in which these guns were invented and manufactured are banned in said state? Their most popular weapons are banned in the state. These legislators are idiots, plain and simple. Malloy being the chief idiot.

Guns are NOT being banned in this state. Why do people think this? This states has just established stricter laws to control who can get guns. It is not taking away people's rights to have guns. Jay

Perhaps in Oceania people's rights to have guns have not been taken away, but here in Connecticut they have.

I'm not surprised by the NSSF's move. I was a registered Democrat for 40 years, switched to Republican over the issue........... Malloy's "fringe of the fringe" comments pushed me over the fence.
