I would probably consider the towns that the OP has initially focused on as being nicer than Woodbridge and Orange, but they are more convenient to Cheshire. That's what you wrote. When you read the sentence with the strucure in which it was posted, the breakdown is this:
Subject: towns (are nicer)
Verb: (but) are more convenient
Predicate: to Cheshire.
Everything else qualifies either the subject, the verb, or the predicate.
Obviously that isn't what you meant, but it -is- what you wrote, which is why I responded as I did.
