Ahhh, you left that part out, and that's maybe why people have recommended Westchester -- the apartment factor!

Besides Stamford, there aren't many apartment areas that I know of (I could be wrong guys, don't kill me for this). There are a bunch in Westchester though, including some high-end Toll Brothers and similar complexes.

Are you opposed to renting a house? You can get a nice one for $5k a month in Fairfield and be in a great town with a relatively easy commute to Norwalk.

Give Ann Tonucci a call at 203-615-2452. She'll take care of you.

Welcome to CT, you'll find your are getting in at a fairly good time. The state has taking a beating since the hey days of the Bush administration. Yet, we're out of the woods or will be soon.

People in Westchester county live in Norwalk and commute in to NY. I-95 is horrible.

I think Wilton would be a better option since Darien is located between I-95 and the Metro North train tracks. I would think it can be a bit noisy.

Still I would recommend looking for a condo rental in Fairfield if you think that it is a better fit for your family. Jay

Default Moving from AZ to CT - Beach House???

I had posted earlier that we may be moving to CT from AZ...well, we have decided and are moving to CT! We have decided to rent in Fairfield. My question is that I would like to live in a beach house or have the view of the beach. Since I have never lived near or on the beach, are there any drawbacks that I have not taken into account? We are looking to lease for 1-2 years.

How about pros so I can get my husband on the same page

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Flooding is a big one, and getting rental insurance. Also it will be very expensive in Fairfield to be on the waterfront - especially in a nice house that's protected from flooding (raised or on a good grade).

Exclamation Winter in CT

If my husband has to work in Norwalk, is it better to live in Fairfield or Darien? Which town would he be going against traffic?

The reason I'm asking about these two towns is we have two kids and I read that these two towns have great schools.

Please advise...thanks so much for your help!
Coming from AZ, if you are not used to winter weather, when you're ready, be sure and post back regarding winterizing any vehicles you might bring with.

I live in AZ now and moved from CT 3 years ago. It's a total different world. Entirely (and to me, in a good way, I miss it). Feel free to PM me with questions - love to help you out!

Hmm, it's interesting that the OP is moving from AZ to CT, especially since most people are doing the opposite!
