The city of Hartford has released new renderings of the $350 million Downtown North project. The development is expected to bring housing, retail, a brewery and a 9,000-spectator minor league ballpark to long-vacant land north of downtown.

It sure is going to be fun, walking into New Britain Stadium next season! I'll have to check to see how many advertisers are missing on that outfield wall, followed by getting used to a whole new list of players.

I still don't think a ballpark is the answer to that part of Hartford. Apartments or an actual supermarket are fine though.

Are there any large scale construction projects actually underway in Hartford like in Stamford or New Haven?

Don't mean to be overly cynical, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Does the busway count?

Not really. There are several apartment projects going on and the completion of Front Street but that is about it right now. Jay

In the next year or so you'll see UCONN campus, Trinity just bought a building DT and with that you'll see more housing in the DT area.

I think the rest of Hartford is slow, really slow. Nothing like New Haven or Stamford.

The busway opens in March so maybe you'll see some properties centered around that.

This whole stadium thing seems like it is not going to happen. They want to play in the Stadium on April 1st, 2016which leaves really only 1 construction season. This winter is shot. Never going to happen.

Hartford getting a minor league baseball team is great for local businesses to get a boost because Downtown is dead after 5pm unless there's a concert or a hockey game. Downtown North has been vacant for a LONG time and the city hasn't been making scrap off of it.
