684 is ~30 miles long.
84 from the 684 interchange to Southbury is ~12 miles long.
That is 42 miles.

CTDOT says it is only 8 miels long, but in reality it stretches back to the 684 interchange very quickly. That is usual.

Okay - so where exactly are you getting a "50-75 mile backup" from?

I counted the yellow stretch that continues into Waterbury.

i thought Southbury at exit 15 was more like 21 miles from the NY State line

Just curious... do you know the difference between a backup and just slowing down for different driving conditions??

When we get snowstorms in MN, literally every highway in the metro will be red/yellow. Does that mean that the entire metro is backed up? Absolutely not. Sure some parts will be, but every driver has to slow down due to the conditions, so it only looks like it is "backed up" everywhere

Part of Southbury is at Exit 13, by the bridge that is bridge expanded. Exit 14 is for South Britain, part of Southbury .

And from the 684 interchange to exit 13 is 22 miles.....
