Has anyone had extended stays at any of the safe/ clean hotels in the area? Any recommended or not? Would anyone have an idea on rates? Thanks!

There is a Residence Inn in Milford right off of 95. The neighborhood is perfectly fine, but not exactly "in the thick of things" being that it is next to the highway and railroad tracks. There is a Homewood Suites just over the Milford line in Stratford, right off of the parkway (Rt. 15) that is close to Shelton.

As a business traveler, I generally trust Marriott and Hiltons extended stay hotels (Residence Inn and Homewood Suites, respectively). A quick Google will give you the price and reviews for any specific location.

I would call them, and tell them how long minimum you'd be there for, and remind them you are not calling to hear them discuss published rates.

I like Homewood, as well as both the Hilton Garden Inn plus Hyatt Place off exit 40. If you are indifferent about which 3 star you get as I am, I like Priceline express deals or bids. I got the HGI Christmas, 2013 for 3 weeks, with taxes and priceline fees, I averaged $67 per night.
