If economy was booming in CT, if politicians were smart and managed the state well -- I would say -- go ahead, put tolls (aka taxes).

But that's not the case. CT politicians will take the money from tolls, put in the general fund, and re-distribute it for some other social program, or pay for more union pensions.

They even told us that's what they're gonna do. For them, there are no sacred cows, and "everything is on the table" in order to cover the budget shortfall.

So no bailout to politicians who are ruining this state. Next.

As well this has been shown to be the case in numerous metro-areas, not just those with full service mass transit. Expanding lanes just simply does nothing for congestion due to induced demand, best we can do is mitigate flow issues and somehow get lorries off the road in greater numbers.

Unfortunately, constant expansion has been a known fool's errand since the 70's among highway planners... but because it's the politically easy explanation it keeps happening.
There is a good reason those trolleys no longer exist. They were not profitable. That is true of most mass transit which is why they are mostly government run and subsidized. Jay

Its what happens when you have people trying to gain access to economic strongholds and updated amenities with 1950s infrastructure.

If CT had unlimited money would they be able to change and widen the highways through the State? Feel that as highways were built houses have grown making it impossible to reroute or widen many highways in the State.

Why do people being interviewed on tv continually talk about traffic backups when putting in tolls? How does the newsman not alert the person being interviewed to the idea of no toll booths like on the mass pike?
