And while I agree with you that everything in OH is cheap for a reason, the cost of living is far less. Depending on the metro, average home prices are 47 to 110% higher in CT than in OH. That means the cost of living when looking at housing alone is more than 1/3.

Anyway, back to the topic: Ohio has one toll road. Saying “OH has tolls” as the previous poster stated is misleading IMO.

Saying Ohio has one toll, when they have multiple tolls all along a 241 mile stretch of road that links its major population centers is equally misleading.

Have a source for your comment, "majority of the population in most of the metros don’t use that road regularly."

I just tried CNN Money’s cost of living calculator and got different results too. It says that Stamford’s cost of living is 41% higher which is less than the 45% than nerdwallet.com showed. They did not have New Haven but it shows Hartford as only being 16% higher. Hartford and New Haven have similar costs of living. Jay

Are you familiar with that stretch or are you just following me thread to thread disagreeing with everything I say? Daily commuters on that stretch will pay once as the toll plazas are spaced so far apart. It is mostly geared to collect from pass through, out of state travelers between the northeast and upper Midwest.

And the source for my comment can be Google maps. Most of OH’s metros are not along that stretch of road.

Yeah and looking at CNN’s results, home prices in some cases are more than 50% higher in New Haven and 100% and up when comparing to Fairfield County. It makes sense - you can get a house for 75k in lots of places out there (they can keep it though).

I wouldn't see an issue if they had toll roads in CT from the I-95 NY/CT border to I-95 New Haven to I-91 to I-91 Mass/CT border. With toll gantries at every off ramp.

Tolls at off ramps would create huge backups. Tolling the main highway makes more sense.

How so?
You just drive under the gantry. Could do on ramps. That's how it was on the CA toll roads. Though it was a small stretch of highway before you exited.

Guess could do a gantry between every off ramp on that stretch of highway.

Placing toll gantries on every ramp would be very expensive given the number of ramps we have on our highways. This is not what Connecticut is considering. Jay

Think covering 95 and 91 between exits or at least every other exit wouldn't be expensive

How long have you lived in CT ? We haven't had a toll in about 30 years. When these gantries go up people will be slowing down / stopping because they won't have a clue how they operate. I'm sure a few knuckleheads will actually pull over - walk up to the gantry and try to insert cash.
