Hi, trying to find a new PCP or deciding to stay. Current PCP can't see me till November for a physical. Wondering if that is a normal wait? Any recommendations of PCP in the Waterbury area? Have Blue Cross Blue Shield now so gives me a bit more options for provider's. Someone recommend a place Phoenix Physician Specialty group, any one heard of them?

Appreciate the feedback.

That does not sound like a normal wait time. Is the PCP cutting down his hours for retirement? Otherwise, I would wonder if he is unhappy with the reimbursement rate from your insurer. Insurers may be questioning the value of a "complete physical". If you don't really need that, could you ask for a routine office visit?

If the physical is something you need sooner for work, there may be "Minute Clinics" where you see a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.

I have Medicare, and they will not pay for an "annual physical" but they do pay for annual "wellness visits". The main difference is that you do not get undressed for the wellness visit. If I have an urgent need, they fit me in quickly.

Perhaps your PCP would give you a faster appointment if you asked for a wellness visit, or if you had a specific complaint.

BTW, I did look up the Phoenix Specialty Group, and they look fine to me. There were two Internal Medicine specialists educated at decent schools, and a Nurse Practioner. You could also check their reputation through Healthgrades.com . Look for Board Certified doctors, and you can sort on the ones with the better reputations.

My PCP is a really really popular doc he is always booked like that. Can go with the APRN about a month wait, but yeah always a long wait unless urgent.
