I currently live along I-95 and accepted a job offer in Glastonbury so I will be moving closer to it. Any recommendations on where to live? I'm looking to find a pet friendly rental, no more than $1200/month in a safe area as I'm a single lady in my 30's. What towns should I focus on? Looking for ideas within 30 minutes of Glastonbury.
No idea on pet friendly, but you can look at Middletown and Cromwell as places with a good amount of rentals that are are both less than 20 minutes from Glastonbury. It would also allow you a shorter drive south if you want to go back to where ever it is along I-95.
I also would suggest Manchester. It's close to where you'll be working and within your budget. Glastonbury itself is nice and has its fair share of restaurants and stores, but IMO Manchester has a higher concentration of young singles. Your budget will go further there, but be sure to explore the neighborhood and complex before signing a lease. Much of the town is fine, downtown is a good scene with restaurants and bars and a microbrewery nearby, but there's a few pockets of places you should avoid. Main Street itself is fine, but some of the apartments and rentals closeby aren't very desireable.
Congratulations on the new job. I am not sure how big or how luxurious of an apartment you are looking for but Glastonbury has a number of apartments that could be in your price range. I would start there and then expand out. Glastonbury is a very desirable town so you will get less for your money there than other towns but minimizing your commute especially when you have a pet is very important.
The next towns I would recommend would be Manchester or Rocky Hill. Both have a lot of apartments and condos and you should be able to find a pretty nice place with your budget. You could also look at Cromwell and the Westlake section of Middletown but you would be close to that 30 minute commute time. Jay
Thank you everyone for your replies! I decided to focus my search on Glastonbury itself and Rocky Hill. Are there any bad areas in either of these towns? Any info anyone could provide in general about them would be greatly appreciated!

Both towns are good. There are no bad areas really. There might be locations that just not as desirable because of a highway but that you can see. Jay
Milestone Commons in Glastonbury is a nice community of town homes that is pet friendly. It is located close to highways for easy access. I know many people living there who are very happy. There are a few rentals there ranging from $1400 to $1600. Not sure if that suits your budget, unless you plan to share with somebody. Most of these town homes are 2 bed + 1.5 or 2 baths. The rental price depends upon the how updated they are, number of baths, etc. One of my close friends is putting his town home for rental next month. But I know he is asking $1600 as it is a beautiful corner unit with updated kitchen and 2 full baths. You can PM me if you want to know more details.
I'm guessing Wethersfield is not a good option for me as no one suggested it? I just discovered there's a bunch of restaurants/shopping on the border of it and Rocky Hill.
