What is the approximate commute from Norwalk to Stamford during rush hour (7-9AM) and the return trip (5-7pm)?

Thanks!

If you leave around 7am, it should only take 25 min. If you leave after 745am it'll about 40 min.

In the evening its been a crap shoot lately. Sometimes it takes 25 min, sometimes 40 min. Fridays are the worst; you'll find yourself on back roads most Friday evenings.

Afternoon rush hour begins around 4 and the heaviest lasts until about 6. After 6-630 pm, traffic lightens up a bit (depending on the day and weather conditions). I would plan on 30-40 minutes on average. Good days being 25, bad days being 45-50.

Avoid 95 afternoon rush hour commutes in the snow. It will take hours.

yes, what Beerguy and Kidyankee said.
Have a good friend who lives in the boondock part of Norwalk near the Wilton line and works in the Thompson building by the train station. Leaves real early in am takes 40 mins. Leaves about 4:30 PM and takes same about 40 mins, if he leaves after 5 it's 1 hour, forget it.
See the other thread about my former commute there.
If job is downtown and walkable from train station, then look in Sono ($2K for a 1 bedroom) hop on train, door to door under 30 mins, or E Norwalk train station ($2K for 2 bedrooms nicer area than Sono).

Do you live in the northern or southern portion of Norwalk and where is the job in Stamford?

This. This makes all the difference.

Also, good idea to learn the backroads!

Another very important factor I forgot to ask is what time are your job hours. If you can get your company to stagger your hours from 8:00 to 4:00 you can have a decent commute. My husband and I both worked in Stamford for about 10 years (we live in Trumbull) and we were both lucky enough to have both our companies give us the hours from 8:00 o 4:00. The difference is dramatic in the commute times.

I did this commute for two years. It took me 25 min in the morning and 35-40 min in the evening. Without traffic, it would normally take 10-15 min.

I'm currently looking for housing so nothing in stone yet. I would totally be open for suggestions on neighborhoods in Norwalk!

The job is at 400 Atlantic in downtown Stamford.
