I'm taking a daytrip up to the Colebrook area of CT in a couple weeks. Was thinking of picking up a picnic lunch to eat somewhere but not sure where to go. Anyone know of any scenic spots for my husband and I to eat a picnic lunch.

Barkhamsted Reservoir? There have to be closer spots too, but that is the first that came to mind.

People's Forest perhaps? Our family used to have a 4th of July picnic there every year. Near New Hartford in Barkamstead right along the Farmington River. Good for canoeing or kayaking and plenty of places to play volleyball, softball and also a cookout. They have shelters or at least they did as of the 1980's. LOL

There is a very large lake on RT 8 in Colebrook. Not sure what the name is, but you will probably see signs for Colebrook Dam or Colebrook boat launch. I have only driven by this lake so I'm not sure what it offers, but since it has parking I would think people can picnic there.
