Can anyone tell me what the going rate is for a cleaning service in Newtown area? Is there an hourly rate? $20? more? less?

Would also appreciate any referrals to any outstanding cleaning services you know of - don't want an agency, looking for a small independent team (need more than 1 person.)

Thank you.

A lot of people in town hire Latin American women from Danbury to clean the house. Check with neighbors for referrals.

The Maids out of Danbury. Five women usually come and clean my entire house in less than 2 hours. They are always very friendly (bit of a language barrier but it's no issue) and honest. One of the cleaners once broke a small item and she left it on my counter with her personal cell phone number so she could repay me out of her own pocket. I called her and told her not to worry about it and she was very thankful. They can be pricey but they do a great job.

Can you give me an idea what pricey is? What do you pay per square foot or hour with them? Thanks.

In Milford, I pay an individual women $25 per hour for three(ish) hours to clean. I've had The Maids (it's a franchise) in the past and I'd concur with Kid-- Good but expensive.
