Can anyone let me know the commuting times to and from Norwalk from Bethel, Newtown and Sandy Hook? I have a few people telling me its brutal. I'm usually at work at 6:15am and I leave work around 3:45pm. I know there are a few ways to get there using the Merritt or Route 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Easier from Bethel.

I used to commute to Norwalk from Bethel and went the whole way on Route 53. Never went on a highway. Winter can be dicey though.

Took 35-45 minutes usually.

Where in Norwalk is work?

Yes, secondary roads are never as clear as highways. And they're windy with lots of elevation changes. On really bad days I would take route 7 since it's more trafficked and was clearer, or would just stay home.

That location is a nice direct commute from Bethel on 53.

Sounds good. Thank you. So I'm assuming if I bought in Newtown I would experience the same commute plus another 15 mins or so.

It really depends on where in Newtown. It's a big town.

From Poverty Hallow section of Newtown, would be about 50 Mins to that location. All backroads (Rt 58 to 136 or Rt 53) through Redding, Weston, Cranbury. No 95 or Merritt needed. From Sandy Hook part of Newtown, add 15 mins.

Sandy Hook is a pretty long drive. If you have the choice between Bethel and Sandy Hook, go Bethel.
