Warm...YES
Unprecedented..NO

Avg Temp 1st 8 days of October was 63.2° at Bridgeport. 13 other years had a warmer average. 2007 the record.

Trend is up since the 1990s but don't start your crying to save us. We haven't even been in the 80s this month where as 17 other years have.

1 more week of warmth including 5 days of 70s! Then next weekend or Monday thereafter Fall weather is back

Quick look at whats happening and whats coming...

Right now all the real cold air is locked up north. All the oranges and yellows are warm for this time of year

Next weekend a piece of that cold air comes visits us in the Northeast as it digs south

Still far away but GFS says a Cold Upper Level low breaks away from the Jet stream and comes south into the Mid West.

Either way...…… enjoy the 70s this week...…………..might be the last of the year

Cloudy and 60s again. No complaints. I think we had only 1 day of sun in past 5 days?

Bulk of the rain staying off shore. Some rain heading into Long Island right now. And I see a spin off North Carolina. Low pressure.

Although your maps seem to show it doesn't relate I read that places like.Las Vegas and Death Valley are expecting what for them is record cold for this time of year this week (as in 60s for highs and 40s for lows....colder than it will be here)

Did you guys know that yesterdays max temp ended up below normal? It was the low temp that was way above thanks to the clouds at night.

A look at the Normal High temps for todays date

We're still in the mid 60s

And that's where there may be something to this. Just like September, high temperatures not remarkable (many Octobers have had an 80 degree high and we haven't even been that close so far) but long long near unprecdented strings of above normal low temperatures in spite of that. While it's true that it has been unusually cloudy and that causes lower diurnal ranges and higher low temps in and of themselves, if forecast this week plays out, by the end of the week Central Park will already with half the month to go tie it's all time record of 13 days with lows of 60+ in October (and more impressively they will all be in a row). Until a string of cold weather at the very end of September, the record for "highest lowest temperature of the month" was going to be broken even though the "highest high temperature of the month" was at or below what is normal and it wasn't unusually cloudy except early in the month.

But it's tricky because on the other hand all of those lows (and the predicted ones) were/are 60-62 (some Octobers have even had one or two days of lows near and above 70) meaning it could just be a weird anomoly, this is why I don't completely disagree with your points but don't think there's nothing to it either. I guess we'll know in years to come if this meant something or was just a weird "climactic roll of the dice".
