May have just snorted. I don't miss this. When I did the (fairly brief) Hartford--->New Haven Commute and back they were alllll over.

Although, to be fair, my best friend is from MA and I still love her.

Yes to the work truck. Are there many roads with vehicle restrictions in the state?

I wouldn't go as far as saying CT traffic is HORRENDOUS, gimme a break. I get around pretty well, even here in the Stub ( I made that term up, so nobody would have heard it before, only Stylo "got it"). Everyone knows NYC traffic could be categorized as horrendous, Cleopatra's lost tomb wasn't unearthed with that proclamation.

Its not "everywhere" as Stylo correctly pointed out like out there.
I don't know where you are over there but do me a favor. Head over to the intersection of Franklin and N. Highland, preferably in the afternoons, any time, doesn't matter. Do that everyday for 5 years, then report back how many grays you have.

Before I write my post ask your husband if he can check with his work and see if his work truck can go on the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield County. I bet it can. If a work truck is not too big it can have combination plates and go on the Merritt.

Will your husband be driving to work in his car and then using the work truck during working hours only?

I see commercial vans on the Merritt every single day. He's good to go.
No box trucks, dual axles, and obviously the big rigs. Saw one of those jackknifed one morning in Greenwich a couple of weeks ago.

It likely can. The large (and prohibited) line trucks are kept at a local garage. They’re not allowed to be taken home by employees.

No need to be rude (unless I'm misinterpreting as it is the internet...Jay?)

I'll take you up on that though. Maybe. I don't really "do" Hollywood. That's not why I'm out here.

@SteveM85: I hope we love it! I have a good feeling about it from this thread!

@Stylo: Thank you for the info about google maps, I was unaware of the time input feature for traffic averages. We have a sprinter van that is 9 ft tall and 12 ft long...is that going to be a problem driving around the state? Honestly, I can't think of any other requirements for a town other than what I've shared. We do not have towns here for the most part, it's just sprawling city that seems to go on forever until you hit the desert, ocean, or military bases. We are pretty open minded. Can you think of other factors for us to consider? We are flying out in 2 weeks to check out towns, to get a feel for which places may be a good fit for our family. So yes, it is possible for us to go check them out soon!

@WouldLoveTo: Thanks for the biking info! We like to take our bikes on the road to new cities to explore so I'm sure we could find some good places to ride out of the area. Any suggestions on ones to check out (and which seasons to go during)?

@NewJeffCt: Berkeley is a really cool city nestled into the hillside, I love it there. The seasons consist of fog, wind, cloudy, and sunshine. They do have a fun downtown area to stroll and a huge emphasis on libraries, which I am particularly fond of. We have a Little Free Library in our front yard here, it really helps connect our neighborhood.

@Beeker2211& Kidyankee764: Dually noted on MA VW and NY/NJ Audis - haha! FYI If you come this way, it is CA Lexus to watch out for and Prius...there is a good reason the Prius insurance rates are higher than luxury here. They hit everything it seems like. Are there a lot of Teslas there? Any infrastructure for electric car charging?

@Stephy0519: Agreed! We would get along well...I used to spend a lot of time in WeHo and Beverly Hills for work, but I'm so glad to not be driving up there anymore. The parking was always the fun part, I can crawl in traffic for hours out of habit (but prefer not to). I rode my bike with the baby and dog to the grocery store today, which I enjoyed except the weather app lied and it was 80 degrees again today by 10am. Sigh. My best friend is in Chicago so at least I get snow pics!

He says he will be driving it from home and it's a Ford F150.

Yeah, he’s good on the Merritt in that. Carry on.
