Lose one celebrity, gain another. It looks like Paul Simon’s estate in New Canaan has been bought by a trust tied to actor Richard Gere. Kensho Trust bought the Simon estate and has been connected to the sale of Gere’s Westchester County estate just two days earlier. Welcome to Connecticut Richard. Jay

Interesting. He just purchased it for $10m when it was sold for $16m in 2002. Why the huge difference? Did the Simons overpay, or did Gere get an insider discount?

I don't dislike Richard Gere, but I am a big Paul Simon fan. Bummer to lose him, I wonder where he's going. Hopefully not Florida, but maybe somewhere warm.

NYT article (sorry for nonsubscribers!) on Jacques Pepin, Madison resident. A couple of photos from Madison and Branford.

Good question. Judging from the photos in the listing, I’d say the house hasn’t been updated in at least 20 years. It’s a big house so the photos don’t show the entire house but if these are the best, I wonder what they aren’t showing. Jay

Paul Simon has several properties. Maybe just downsizing.

Small business decision. Little used weekend getaway from Manhattan. Jet setting centimillionaires don’t stay put in one place. It’s not like Joe Schmo Millionaire looking to save on some income tax.
