I just want a one yr rental that’s safe while I look for the right place to buy.
Trumbull may take much more time to open but depending on when this pandemic is over, it may work best.
Interestingly, The Muse Milford directed me to their sister properties—Ten Trumbull in Trumbull and The Mark in Shelton. Both new and presently leasing. Why all the new luxury apartments in Connecticut??
I wish some of these were apartment style condos to purchase instead but there seems to be a huge market for renters.
Maybe I should just rent and save on taxes and HOA fees lol
Thanks to you both.
I hope my comments did not dissuade you from The Muse. That was not my intention at all. That location is fantastic. Wheelers Farm Road is a beautiful residential area and as Stylo noted, it is near a lot. I would not hesitate to live there even for an extended period of time. It’s definitely nicer than the Trumbull location. I think it would be nice to be located adjacent to a major shopping mall. There’s also great shopping and restaurants right down the street. That said Milford has even better shopping and dining options but the tipping point for me was being 15-20 minutes closer to family in New York. That is just my opinion. Yours and others could be different.

To answer your question on all the luxury apartment construction going on, Connecticut has some of the tightest rental markets in the country. Hartford and New Haven have been listed on the lists of the tightest rental markets for years now. We just don’t have a lot of rental complexes like you find in other parts of the country.

Historically Connecticut has always taken longer to be discovered by developers and investors after a recession. They commonly look to New York and Boston first and only branch out here when options in those areas have been exhausted. That is what is happening right now. Developers began looking here for opportunities about five years ago. It takes several years to find good properties, buy them, permit them and construct projects like these apartment complexes. That’s why there’s several complexes under construction right now and several more coming soon. Jay

Those Muse apartments are about 5 minutes from the Route 1 (the Post Road). Wheelers Farm runs into High Street which take you right to the downtown area. I am on that road all the time. My cousin lives off Wheelers Farm and my friends live off High Street.

There are senior condos across the street from those apartments not far from Filanowski Farm. Here is one that was sold so you can see it.

No, JayCt--you didn't dissuade me at all. I appreciate you weighing in!
I think you and Stylo agree that both are good options for different reasons. I favor Milford for its proximity to the beach, however.
It also looks like Milford's "Muse" will be ready before the Trumbull property Its wonderful to have these great choices in new modern housing and it will give me time to explore the area and decide on buying down the road. It's also very important to know that Wheeler farms Rd is a safe area. That eases my mind.
I was also looking at Quarry Walk in Oxford but I prefer being in a coastal area. Quarry Walk was attractive because you could also buy some units. Perhaps that concept will be included in future projects. Thanks again!!

Thanks, CTArtist.
It looks like a nice area with nice residential housing and some corporate headquarters. Close to downtown, restaurants and the highways also. I also wanted to be in an area where I can access Yale New Haven physicians and it looks good for that too. The Muse's web site shows little of the building exteriors, garages, grounds--just a lot of glamour promotional shots. Maybe its not that far along yet.
I emailed the property and they said they would send a leasing price list in a few weeks. I'm hoping they'll open for residency closer to summer 2021 but we'll see.
I appreciate your time in sending such helpful info!

Surprised no one brought up the official news of the Stamford Mall selling (it happened awhile ago, as mentioned previously). Buyer wasn’t UConn.

To be fair, according to Google Maps, it’s an 8 minute driving difference, and more or less a wash by train.

But yes, a bit closer by car.

You can see it from the Milford connector. Looks like exterior is done.

IKEA?

Look at the map. No big Ikeas in the area and all the young adults are moving to Stamford renting. I have a hunch that might be it.

Not IKEA. It's Safavieh, a home furnishings store that already has a location in Stamford. They have not disclosed their plans.

IKEA is planning on opening smaller format stores in vibrant cities like NYC, Chicago, and LA. Does Stamford qualify as vibrant?
