Brookfield could be the next beachhead in Connecticut’s highly competitive supermarket wars.

Well-informed speculation is that the store being built at 14 Candlewood Lake Road in the upper Fairfield County community will be Connecticut’s first Amazon Fresh bricks-and-mortar location.

Here look of Amazon Fresh Supermarket

LOL, so Stew Leonard’s is half a mile down the road in one direction, and Costco in the other direction. Good luck and Godspeed, Amazon

Yes, and the BJ's is right across the street, Shoprite is 1/2 a mile up the road between there and costco. Stews and home depot is 1 mile in the other direction. Traffic is already pretty bad on weekends and days before any holidays. The grocery store took over where TJ maxx was which moved 2.5 miles away.

Amazon has a war chest like no other. These are amazing stores. Younger demo will flock to them in droves.
I know about another location lower in Fairfield county that should have been the first announced but some development issues.

All these supermarket wars remind me of when McDonald's took off in the 60s and the subsequent fast food wars. A McDonald's would open on any random street, cue 5 other fast food chains opening up in the vicinity convinced that it's a "good location".

Instacart has been expanding significantly. Even from where I am in north eastern ct I have the following:

Pickup - market 32, Wegmans, The Fresh Market, Aldi, Price Chopper Stew leonards and Price Rite locations differ though that's anywhere from 10 -45 miles away. This kinda tells me not all locations give pickup or there's some limit to how long they'd pick it up but I'm used to that in retail.

Delivery - Costco, Total Wine and More, Save A Lot, Target, Best Buy, Walgreens, Big Lots, Stop and Shop, Bevmax, The wine Shop, BJ's, Family Dollar, Bed Bath and Beyond, Christmas tree shops, Sephora, Staples, CVS and pet co. I'm really surprised that christmas tree shops was there

There's a ton of competition for the delivery of anything now and it's a blend and a fight between supermarkets, walmart, amazon etc.
