Glad you enjoyed it, it was truly stellar. We took both our sets of parents, including my late father and late mother-in-law, despite it being a 40 mile drive for us from West Hartford. Combined with a stroll around Chester and a ferry ride, we found it to be a very "Connecticut" outing for out-of-state visitors!

Ground Round--is that the chain restaurant where you threw peanut shells on the floor?

Chester is the best. Still some quite excellent eateries there.

That was many years ago. Our litigious society caught up with them a long time ago and that practice was ended. It was kind of neat though. Jay

Correct. What would not fly so well in 2021 at Ground Round is they did pitchers of drinks like Harvey Wall bangers, fairly cheap.

Texas Roadhouse still does peanuts and they are on the floor quite often.

I wasn’t of drinking age when our local GR closed - but I remember the rowdy bar! It was down a couple of steps from the main restaurant and located in sort of a solarium with lots of brass and fake plants. Reeked of smoke.

I also recall that kids were charged $0.01 per pound of weight for food — complete with a public scale in the entry to the restaurant. Oh, and there were communal popcorn bowls. Can you imagine those today? Lol
