Why?

CT beaches are like lake beaches. Not only does it look like a small lake due to Long Island being visible in the horizon through much of the CT’s coast, but waves are similar to what is seen in lake beaches. If lake beaches should not be counted, then anyone can argue against CT beaches too.

Right. Good work.
A beach is a beach just like a pan is a pan.
The list says Top 25 beaches in the US. The list does not say Top 25 Saltwater beaches in the US or Top 25 Lake beaches in the US. We don't make the rules.

While it might be a stretch to call Ocean Beach top 25, it's a heck of a nice beach and easily my favorite beach in CT. Between the boardwalk, the concessions, the pool, the kids playground, and the nifty little tidal area off the to right, I love it. I have so many great childhood memories there, back when they had kiddie rides and the water slide. When I spent a summer in New London a few years ago, I joined WoW because it came with free parking at Ocean Beach while you were working out. I would park for the gym and then hang at the beach for an hour or so afterwards. The downside is that it's expensive to park you aren't a New London resident.

Southern Living has named duBois Beach in Stonington one of the Best Secret Beaches in America. I don’t know it. Anyone been there? Was wondering if it nice? Jay

It's TINY. Barely a beach. But it's at the end of the Borough, which is a gorgeous area, and has wonderful views.

Beaches have a few different kinds of beauty.

For actual swimming, I am partial to beaches in warmer areas with tropical or semi-tropical vegetation. But there is a certain type of beauty in northeastern beaches, though they're not the best for actual swimming.

I have taken Amtrak along the Connecticut coast to Boston a few times in the past year, and it really is a beautiful and charming coastline once you get east of New Haven.

I think the whole coast is beautiful. But yes east of New Haven is special. Amtrak/Metro North doesn't have great views west of New Haven. Barely touches the coast.

Written by a New Haven hipster with beard and glasses in tow. Straight out of white woke central casting. Don't appreciate the tone and disdain for people west of Bridgeport or out of towners of New Haven going to Lighthouse Point.

RI beaches have their place and CT beaches have their place.
Where CT might lack in swim and surf it more than makes up for it in nautical and water sport activiites, boating, sailing, fishing, paddling, the list goes on and on
