Haha, I love the way you phrased that! I wonder, what are the chances Chester could make an upset and send Fairfield to the losers bracket? Pretty tough ask for sure.

I’m spending some time thinking about my choice. As someone who used to live in Fairfield and loves the town, it’s not easy voting against it. That being said, it has become way more crowded over the past many years and the downtown area has really lost its charm. Downtown feels like a small city nowadays. Jennings Beach is so nice and it’s my second favorite beach in the whole state but it can get very crowded at times and that can sometimes be hard to enjoy it as much. All that to say, Downtown Fairfield still has some great restaurants, and there are still very charming parts of the town in other areas: Southport, Greenfield Hill, and Hoydens Hill to be more specific.

Chester has a cute little town center. Haven’t tried the restaurants yet, but you guys seem to really like them. I’m going to have to really think this through before voting!

There is a pattern and a reason why I voted that way. You will see it if you look at my previous voting. I will give you one word: coastline.

You are right that Fairfield is getting overcrowded (tell Beeker that over on the DesegregateCT thread) but it’s still a great town. Downtown (which is called the Center) is still pretty charming despite the hideous 8-30g monstrosity that was built on Unquowa Place. The reopened Community Theater is a wonderful addition to town and adds to the Center’s vibrancy.

Chester is cute and a quiet little town but to me it’s a little too quiet. Theres no major shopping in it. You have to drive to Middletown or Old Saybrook for a major supermarket or many shopping needs. Thats a little too small town for me. JMHO

My choices:

Winners Bracket:

Fairfield vs Chester - Fairfield, of course

Norwalk vs Old Lyme - Norwalk

Stonington vs Trumbull - A really tough one. A charming seaside village or a top notch suburb. I have to go with Stonington

Westport vs Simsbury - Another toughy. A super wealthy Gold Coast town or a picturesque Farmington Valley town. I have to go with Simsbury

Milford vs Kent - A diverse suburban community or a charming Litchfield town. I have to go with Milford for the same reasons I went with Fairfield.

West Hartford vs Stamford - I’m not a city person so I’ll go with West Hartford.

Madison vs Wallingford - A charming shoreline east town or cheap electricity. Surf Club wins. Madison it is.

Essex vs Wilton - A charming Connecticut River town or a wealthy Gold Coast wannabe. Wilton

Guilford vs Woodbridge - Guilford, hard to beat it.

Ridgefield vs Greenwich - One of the very top suburban towns verses world class wealth. Greenwich

Litchfield vs Farmington - The quintessential New England town verses a top Hartford suburb. Litchfield

Branford vs Middletown - For its toy and book stores alone, Middletown

New Haven vs Southbury - New Haven

Glastonbury vs Newtown - Of course Glastonbury

Old Saybrook vs Avon - For the beaches and The Kate, Old Saybrook

East Lyme vs Weston - Shoreline beach town or leafy wooded rural suburb? East Lyme

Losers Bracket:

Haddam vs Manchester - Manchester, great shopping, Mulberry Street Pizza, Shady Glen ice cream and cheeseburgers

Killingworth vs Enfield - Killingworth

Scotland vs Burlington - Burlington

Prospect vs Marlborough - Marlborough

Willington vs Thomaston - Thomaston

Bethlehem vs Bozrah - Bethlehem

Goshen vs Canaan - Canaan

Bridgeport vs North Haven - Bridgeport, our state’s largest city, great food, PT Barnum, Seaside Park, Beardsley Park & Zoo, Captains Cove, Black Rock, St. Mary’s by the Sea, Chavez Bakery, Del Prete Bakery, Beverly Pizza, Brewport, Downtown Cabaret, Ralph & Rich’s, Joesph’s Steakhouse, Drumstik Chicken

Durham vs Newington - Durham

Mansfield vs Brooklyn - Mansfield, UConn

Sharon vs Thompson - Sharon

Granby vs Rocky Hill - Granby, very friendly town

Tolland vs New Hartford - Tolland

Bolton vs Salem - Bolton
