If this were true, why has CT lost the largest percentage amount of farmland over the last 10 years out of any state, while also loosing great amounts of forest land with a population that hasn't climbed that much? In all reality, these "environmentalists" are nothing more than thinly veiled NIMBYs.

I just wonder if there is anyone with vision in CT politics? Are they all just worried about the next election cycle or does somebody actually care about where CT will be in 5, 10, or even 15 years??? And why wasn't anyone considering these issues 15 years ago????

Metro-North is no longer just a means to get into NYC. The destination of half of all commuters on the New Haven line is in CT. India and China are consuming more and more oil everyday driving up demand of a limited resource. I don't see the price of gas coming down anytime soon.

I really hope that the transit oriented developments proposed in North Haven, Naugatuck, and Redding get built. I believe if they build it they will come. Many times we have seen on this board that people want to live in a walkable environment or at least have access to reliable transit options.

Time for me to get off my soap box and get back to work.

I would have to agree with that statement. I grew up in New Milford, and have such a hard time going back. Any and all open land gets developed as soon as the developers can get their hands on it.

I now live in Colorado and am amazed at how the counties here actually look for available land to preserve as open space parks. Someone sold a farm in a neighboring town and had been working for years with the county to have it preserved. In CT, especially in New Milford, that would have turned into a housing development. I can't count the number of parks within a 30 min drive from my house here. Back in CT, I could count them on one hand.
