I need some opinions of an affordable (750,000.00) home and good schools that will have less than an hour commute to Tarrytown. Does this exist? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Westchester county has many great school districts. Port Chester is still affordable, good schools, access to 287. Some areas are run down, but it has improved enormously in recent years, and some areas have always been beautiful.

The reason for Ct. is the traffic to commute across the trapanzee bridge. I am thinking that it would be easier and perhaps slightly more affordable to live here as opposed to New Jersey. As for anything in Westchester county being affordable, I need more opinion and suggestions. I am looking for a newer type home with at least 2500 sq. ft, in a good school district for less than 800,00, prefering to stay under 750,00o. Does this exist?

Greenwich would be about 40 min commute or so with NO traffic....but with 750K you wouldn't afford much of a house their since most is at 1 mill or above.

Stamford would be a little further and would def get you a good place for 750K but I'm still wondering why you dont just go with a NY address instead.

The commutes in southern CT on 95 are the worst. Commuting times are often doubled if not more by traffic.

Why not an area around terrytown????

Finding something with at least 2500 sq feet AND brand new will be very tough in Fairfield county for your budget...

I am aware that the housing cost in this area is extreme! For this reason I was avoiding Westchester county. PLease give me some cities in NY that are more afforable? How about MountKisco? What about cities around Danbury?

Danbury itself would get you a place in your budget.
But i can't promise anything about the schools as i'm not THAT familiar with the area.

Danbury would be about an hour commute with LITTLE traffic. It would take longer if that area is traffic heavy.

Some suburbs of Danbury where you would find a newer homes would be Brookfield, New Fairfield, Bethel,Newtown (where most of the newer ones are in the area) or New Milford is you are willing to strech your commute time because you get more for your dollar there compared to the other towns. As a Realtor, I can't discuss schools.

The traffic on I-684 is considerbly better than what it woiuld be along the I-95 corridor in lower Fairfield County (Stamford, Fairfield, Darien area). Good luck!
