Getting back to the original question, why was everyone so surprised there was another shoot out in Hartford? It is just business as usual.

Look, I'm fed up with what's going on in Hartford...but your posts are not realistic.

I'm willing to bet you don't even live in the area or visit the city.

You can prove me wrong by showing your knowledge of the city.

What apartment building is in the center background here?

On top of that, who was going to put a restaurant in the street level portion but backed out.

What well known restaurant is just to the right of that building but we all know and love? (Most anyway. )

What building is being renovated here:

And what are the two buildings further back in the picture and what restaurants do they house?

If you took a left here from the phot what street would you be on?

It's real easy to armchair it...but the city does have a lot going for it.

^^^I hope downtown Waterbury looks like that one day. Hey, I think in life everyone has there trying times. At school, I've met some people that had to work very hard to get here, and they didn't grow up anywhere near the ghetto.

I'm not in favor of legalization of drugs. When kids get arrested, its not always for drugs. They get into fights, vandalism, etc. But when theese kids get arrested, its tough for them to find jobs. Instead, they sell drugs.

I believe that if we did something to these kids without putting anything on their record, it would benefit the kids and society. They should be able to community service without having it on their record. Maybe even mandatory alternative schooling.

And JViello and Leilani, I wasn't trying to discredit you guys at all. Its great that you guys are where you are coming from where you came from.

Ooh I want to play! haha..

First picture, to the left is 55 On the Park, in the middle is Trumbull on the Park. Donno who was gonna put a restaurant in there, there seems to be a lot of open space. Quiznos has one of those spots... A little bit farther to the right is Vitos if that is what you are referring to.

Second picture is the renovation of the Sage Allen Department Store tower. It is part of a large project dubbed "Main and Temple." High end apartments I think, although farther back on Temple appears to be student housing. Nice new reastraunts there by the way, I eat at that Saigon Kitchen fairly often.

Farther back in that picture is 942 and 950 Main st, City Steam and Capital Community College. If there is a second reastraunt there I forgot... There is a Dunkin Donuts if thats what you mean?

Third photo looking to the left would be Church St. Go down that street farther a little bit on the corner of Main is the fruit salad guy, who serves very nice and fresh fruit salads during the day.

Those photos are nice but keep in mind they are all pretty much within a three block radius of eachother. Travel in any direction another 3 blocks and it would be a different story. Next time get a few photos at the Garden + Capen intersection, Main + Tower, or anything off of Albany. I'm not saying the city is a desolate place but you can make the city look any way you want with just a few carefully selected photos. Maybe tomorrow at work I'll take a few.

Please do Medic if you have the time. I have never been to Hartford and would like to see more pictures from both ends of the spectrum.

The person that was suppose to open a restaurant was UConn Women's Basketball Coach Geno Arema (okay I know the spelling is wrong but I am too lazy to look it up). Actually in the third photo, the street would be Pratt Street and further up would be Asylum. Church Street would be behind you. Jay

Ah come on...that was for "stumpy" since he's on the city's case all the time like he lives there. Now I'll have to go with another set of pics and questions for him. LOL

55 on the Park was supposed to have Gino Auremma put in an Italian Restaurant but he backed out for whatever reason.

Yes Vito's by the Park is the other place.

The second restaurant in 960 Main (Fox building) is the new Abassador Of India. Same folks who did the Glastonbury location have opened up in DT Hartford as well.

You're one street off on the left turn. It would be Pratt Street.

As for a small group of pics...as you can see my intent was not to showcase anything. I posted some random pics I have simply to quiz "stumpy" on his knowledge of Hartford seeing as he is so vocal about it.

I've got a ton of the DT area. The DT area as a whole is still and has been very nice.

Yea I agree if you get into the North end and/or South end it can get rough.

But from an aesthetic sake you have to admit that if you head in the North End on Main Street by Westland and Windsor it's actually looking pretty nice these days.

Park Street is also doing "okay" IMO.

Have a look at my directory if you like:

Index of /personal02/Hartford

I've got a lot of pics all around the DT area there. I have more of some "grit" but they are not up on the server yet...perhaps I'll get them up if I have a few minutes this weekend.

Edit: I had the window open for about 30 minutes and JayCT beat me to the post! LOL

Sorry to ruin the fun for Stumpy but I had to correct/embelish on Hartford Medic's answers. Thanks Jay for correctly spelling Gino Auremma's name. So you know, I believe he decide to not open the restaurant in Hartford because he is opening one at one of the casinos instead. Defintiely a lose for Hartford. I think that he was also going to live in the Trumbull by the Park building, but not sure if he ever did move in. Jay

Rich - You really are in the mood to correct spelling errors today (see my response to your other post this morning). Please, for my sake, don't do this. I have a hard enough time putting a sentence together let alone worry about if my spelling and grammer are correct. Jay
