Starwood is set to receive up to $75 million in tax credits and a $9.5 million loan from the Connecticut Dept, of Economic and Community Development, as well as an additional $5 million in sales tax exemptions on building materials if approved by the Connecticut Development Authority.
All while we run a HUGE deficit in our state budget. Awesome. That's like being in foreclosure on your house and going out and purchasing a big plasma flat screen to impress your neighbors. Sigh...

Starwood is one of my customers - Sheraton East Hartford, but I'm still appalled.
Then again, it's no different then big daddy government handing out billions to other companies.

After reading that article, I think it seems clear that all the paperwork still has not been completely signed for Starwood to make an announcement. I don't read that as them getting "cold feet" or reconsidering at all.
That would be a tough pill for both sides to swallow--going back on the deal.
