Here are the school links that JViello mentioned. The bottom one will give you information on the individual schools. Jay

JViello, thanks for the pics, it looks like a nice town. We have decided not to rule it out, seeing a few homes this weekend.

JayCT, thanks for the links!

Manchester is OK, but if you plan on having kids, I wouldn't suggest the schools there. I work in E.H. and live in Ellington (southern area). Only a 20 minute drive to E.H. Very happy with this town. Only 15 minutes from the Buckland area. Right between I-91 and I-84, so good location.

You're paying a big premium for a house that's less than 10 years old. You might consider broadening your search some. I got a 3 bedroom 2 bath house in Glastonbury from 1980 for $295K, and that was before the housing crash. I did have to paint the exterior, replace the heat pump, and do some work on the water system, but that was all only about $15K. It turned out to be much cheaper than just buying a house < 10 years old.

I'm not really sure where you are working in East Hartford. If you are working at the city's largest employer, Pratt & Whitney, you probably want to consider living south of East Hartford, because it's pretty likely you will be working in Middletown at some point.

I agree with agnitfom2000, an older home should not be ruled out. There are many great houses around that would be more convenient to your work place. Why live far froom your job and deal with a commute and that expense? As my father always said, "Just because it is old does not mean it is no good". Jay
